The Italian winger joined Villa on loan last month, with transfers chief Monchi knowing the player from their time together at Roma. Zaniolo’s arrival came after a serious injury for Emi Buendia was confirmed by the club.

He has featured twice in the Premier League so far, and will be hoping to kick on after the international break as Villa look to climb the Premier League table and progress in Europe.

“Nicolo Zaniolo wanted to leave when it came to the Premier League,” Timur told Turkish outlet.

“He left for a record loan fee. There is a high conditional purchase option, €40m is a figure that can be reached with bonuses.

“We bought for €15m and made this conditional sale to make more profit.”

Zaniolo will next be in action for Villa when they host Crystal Palace in league action on Saturday, September 16. There is then a trip to Legia Warsaw in the Europa Conference League five days later.
