Sean Dyche ready to let Everton star leave for ‘Serious money’ – journalist

Sean Dyche willing to let Everton star Demarai Gray go for ‘serious money’

Sean Dyche is willing to let Demarai Gray leave Everton if a “serious offer” comes in for the winger this summer, according to Paul Brown.

The former Daily Star journalist told GiveMeSport on 1 August that he doesn’t believe the Toffees boss is that “high” on the Jamaica international and that the “writing is on the wall” for him at Goodison Park.

Fellow Premier League sides Fulham, Crystal Palace and West Ham are all reportedly monitoring his situation, with Brown claiming it might be best for all parties to “let him leave”.

“I don’t really think that Sean Dyche is that high on Demarai Gray,” said Brown. “If the price is right from any of those clubs showing interest, I think they would let him go.

“It’s clear that Everton don’t have much of a transfer budget at the moment this summer. They will need to generate cash with sales if Dyche wants to bring in anybody else in areas of the squad that they have a greater need.

“I do still think that if anybody puts down serious money for Demarai Gray this summer, he probably will go. I think he can see the writing on the wall himself from the fact that Dyche didn’t really make him a key player at all last season when he came in. I think it might suit all parties to let him leave.”

On the cards

It looks increasingly likely that a move will be on the cards for Gray this summer given Dyche’s reported willingness to let him leave and the amount of interest from other clubs in signing him.

Brown notes that he will probably be allowed to exit Goodison Park if the club receives “serious money” for the winger, but it comes down to what it believes that figure is.

It’s been reported that the Toffees are looking for a fee well beyond £10million and that would mark a significant profit after signing him for just £1.7million from Bayer Leverkusen in 2021.

The arrival of Arnaut Danjuma on a season-long loan deal from Villarreal has probably made Dyche more open to allowing Gray to leave as there are other areas of the squad that need improving.

But it does seem unlikely that the Blues are going to let him go on the cheap as one of the interested parties will probably pay close to their valuation.
