Nottingham Forest-linked striker Marcos Leonardo is said to have agreed personal terms with AS Roma as both parties await Santos’ decision.

The Brazilian’s future is set to be decided this week according to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio after Santos received an offer for his services. Talks between the parties have reportedly since progressed and a decision is expected soon.

Forest and Aston Villa have also been credited with an interest, however, they are not thought to have made any official approach. Leonardo is under contract until 2026 and has a release clause of €100million, claims Brazilian outlet Globo.

Although Roma’s bid is unknown, the 20-year-old is claimed to have agreed personal terms with Roma. However, it is Santos who will have the final say as both parties await for a “definitive response.”

Elsewhere, TuttoMercato add that Santos’ response should become known today (Wednesday) because the transfer window in Brazil will shut tonight.

But it remains to be seen whether Santos will allow the striker to leave as they are yet to find a new replacement. Leonardo is highly regarded in Brazil, having come through Santos’ academy before making his senior debut at the age of 17.

Leonardo has scored six goals in the first 12 league games this season. His performances in Brazil will inevitably lead to comparisons with past Santos legends Pele and Neymar.

Make no mistake – Nottingham Forest’s return to the Premier League was a roaring success.
