Newcastle are £10M away from signing ‘excellent’ 20yr old who really wants SJP move

Newcastle United are still trying to complete a deal for Tino Livramento, as the Magpies’ pursuit of the defender begins to drag on.

It has been a month since Newcastle‘s interest in the Southampton right-back was first interested. Back then it looked like a transfer would be straightforward, with Eddie Howe’s side confident that a move would be completed.

More than four weeks later and the Magpies are still in talks with the Saints, as they look to complete a deal for a 20-year-old who could prove to be Kieran Trippier’s long-term successor at St James’ Park.

Livramento would provide great cover for the England international, while he clearly has the potential to be a starter at Newcastle in the future. That is why the club are willing to invest in him, but issues over the price tag remain.

The report adds that the two teams are still in talks as they go in search of an agreement.

This comes a week after it sounded like a breakthrough had been made. There were reports that a deal was expected to be completed.

However, Newcastle’s latest bid worth £30million was reportedly rejected, leading to a sense of frustration from the Magpies behind the scenes.

With Southampton wanting nearly £40million, it is becoming more and more difficult to reach a compromise.

Yes, he is a very talented player. But he has also missed a year of his career due to injury. While he is fit now, there are no guarantees he will be able to hit the same heights. It is therefore understandable why Newcastle are reluctant to really push the boat out for him.
