Leeds beat numerous clubs to yet another new transfer, it could cost £6m

Leeds United have beaten several other clubs to secure the signing of Glen Kamara this summer, according to Graeme Bailey. The 90min journalist reported on his personal Twitter account on Thursday (31 August) that the Whites had finally agreed terms with Rangers over a deal that could cost up to £6million including potential add-ons.

Kamara, a Finnish international, had many potential suitors this summer after it became clear that he wouldn’t be remaining at Ibrox, but Daniel Farke’s side has managed to win the race for his signature after a lengthy pursuit.View Tweet

Leeds have already strengthened their midfield in the closing days of the window with the signing of Ilan Gruev and Kamara is expected to be the next arrival at Elland Road with his medical booked for Thursday afternoon [Fabrizio Romano, 31 August].

Pulling power

Leeds United will truly be a force to be reckoned with in the Championship and the size and the history of the club is clearly on show here as the Whites look to have managed to secure the services of an exceptional midfielder who several clubs hoped to sign.

A £6m fee isn’t likely to break the bank but the 49ers have truly backed Farke this summer, attempting to strengthen in every position that he has identified in need of reinforcement throughout the transfer window, with midfield one of the biggest problem areas.

While this transfer saga seems to have dragged on for much of the summer window, the competition for the Finnish midfielder’s signature would have likely meant that the entire deal would have taken a lot longer to complete than anyone would have hoped.

With the combination of Gruev and Kamara both set to be confirmed in the coming hours at Elland Road, Farke’s midfield options have been bolstered significantly and alongside the likes of Archie Gray and Ethan Ampadu the Whites Arte beginning to create a genuinely competitive force in the middle of the park.
