Everton launch new bid through businessman, player already agreed

Everton made their bid of £12.8million for Sporting CP striker Youssef Chermiti through a businessman, which caught the player by surprise, according to Record.

The Portuguese newspaper has reported [01 August, pg 5] that Everton’s offer of £12.8million also included a further £4.2million in bonuses depending on variables such as the number of goals scored by Chermiti.

It is also reported that, upon learning of Everton’s interest, the striker has now sat down at the table to discuss the move to Merseyside, in what seems to be a positive development for his transfer.

Get it over the line

Everton bosses will be hoping to get this deal over the line as soon as possible, with reported interest from other Premier League sides Wolves and Bournemouth. The striker’s willingness to sit down to discuss the deal proves that they have been given every chance to get the deal completed quickly.

The report comes following continued news this summer of Everton missing out on key targets after Illiman N’Diaye looks set to move to Marseille, Joel Piroe looks likely to remain at Swansea, and El Bilal Toure completed a move to Atalanta.

Another Everton target, Viktor Gyokeres, moved to Sporting earlier this summer, perhaps setting the wheels in motion for Chermiti’s move to Goodison Park.

The information given that Everton are conducting the early stages of this transfer via a businessman seems odd, with the bid reportedly arriving with Sporting via the third party, but doesn’t seem to be causing much interference with the move.

Hopefully, this one is sealed soon.
